Nobody in this room came to play a game. These are the ones that work anyway. The game goes up on the big screen with a QR code, whoever scans it is playing on their phone a few seconds later, and everyone who doesn't scan gets a show instead of a wait. Each game has one thing to do and a round under a minute, with no rules to read. Free, in the browser, no app and no account.
The conference one. Up to 63 painters on one canvas, 45 seconds, close a loop to claim paper and steal somebody else's. Present mode puts a QR code on the big screen, phones scan it and tap Ready, and the camera tours the leaders while the crowd watches. You can follow it from the back of the room without anyone explaining it.
Pick a number from 0 to 100. The lowest number nobody else picked wins. That's the whole rule, and a full room gets it before the sentence ends. Every pick goes up on the screen after the round, which is where the groaning happens.
Guess the year of a Taiwan milestone. Everyone answers on their phone and every guess lands on one timeline on the big screen, so the reveal is the show. Good for a crowd that would rather argue than play.
A photo of a spot in Taipei or Taiwan. Drop your pin on the map; closest pin wins. The map on the screen fills with everyone's pins at once, and the one local in the room becomes insufferable.
Bubble tea versus popcorn chicken, and the only control is tap. Two teams, one rope on the big screen, everybody mashing. Nothing to explain, and it gets loud.
One half-baked idea, one prompt, and this tile has your name on it.
Build one →People look up from a coffee or a conversation and decide in about five seconds whether the screen is worth it. Each of these games can be understood from the screen alone in that time: one thing to do and one score. Most of the room aren't gamers, so the phone controls need no instructions either: one thumb, one thing to do. If it needs a slide of rules, it isn't on this page.
Most of the room never will, and that's fine. Every game here has a view built for the audience: the whole crowd on one screen, every painter or every answer landing at once, and a podium at the end. The audience never sits through a lobby or a loading bar. They watch names they recognise climb a leaderboard, which turns out to be most of the fun.
Open the game on the laptop that's plugged into the projector and pick the big-screen or presenter mode. A QR code comes up. Phones scan it, tap Ready, and appear on screen with a name. Say one sentence about what the room is about to see, then let people work it out. One person presses Start, the round plays, the podium shows, and you go again with whoever walked in since. Nothing to install and no account, and the phones can use their own data if the venue wifi is what venue wifi usually is. Some people are wary of scanning a QR code from a screen, so say what it opens before you ask: a web page in their browser, no app, no account, closed when they are done.
If you're building a game for an event, design it for this room: the phone is the controller and the screen is the show. Assume players who aren't gamers, five seconds of attention, one gesture with no instructions, a round under a minute, and a spectator view that is never a waiting screen. Describe it to a coding agent and antics gives it rooms, a QR invite and a link: make a game →
Yes. It opens an ordinary web page at antics.gg in the phone's browser. Nothing is downloaded, nobody makes an account and no card is asked for. When the round is over, close the tab and it's gone.
No. The QR code opens a web page. iPhone, Android, a laptop in the back row: anything with a browser plays, and nobody makes an account.
It depends on the game. Inkline XXL takes 63 painters plus the screen in one room; the quiz games put a big group on one timeline or map. For a bigger room, run a second screen with its own QR code.
The games are small web pages, so phones on mobile data are fine. The only thing that needs the venue's connection is the laptop on the projector.
Yes. Describe the game to a coding agent, antics hosts it with rooms and a link, and you can put your own logo, your own questions or your own joke in it. Start at antics.gg/make-a-game.
