A timeline guessing game about Taiwan: MRT openings, Taipei 101, convenience stores and other precisely defined milestones. Everyone chooses a whole year, then all guesses appear together on one shared timeline, with a primary source explaining the answer.
How to play When Was That?
Create a private game and share its room link or QR. 2 ready players minimum; 16 player connections live. A paired TV takes no player seat. Host chooses PLAY + HOST or HOST ONLY. Guests may watch. Only the host starts.
One practice with no points, then five scored rounds. A 3-second countdown precedes up to 20 seconds to choose. Confirm once; answers lock early if everyone confirms and stay concealed until lock. Collection lasts at most 5 seconds.
Enter a whole year. Rank by absolute year error; equal early/late errors tie. Points = round(100 × (N − rank) / (N − 1)), using the fixed starting roster N. Ties share rank and points; missing/unverified answers score zero.
Highest match total wins. Tied leaders can share the title or play one host-started tiebreak; still tied means shared champions. Five-round records exclude practice and the tiebreak. Late arrivals watch until the next match. NEW MATCH clears readiness and scores.
The host presses FINISH MATCH after reviewing results or playing the tiebreak. This saves the five-round record and opens NEW MATCH.
