An archery party game for up to 8 players online, or 16 on a TV with phones as the controllers.
Everyone starts round the edge of a clearing in the autumn woods with a bow and one arrow. Hold to charge: the longer you hold, the further it flies. Let go and it flies straight and fast, then sticks in the grass, in a hay bale or in a target.
Then your quiver is empty. Walk over any arrow on the ground to pick it up, yours or anybody's, and shoot again. Every arrow keeps its owner's colour, so you always know whose you are holding.
One hit and you are out, to the trees round the clearing. You are not done: from the trees you get a slow bow that refills by itself. Hit someone still in the clearing and you swap places with them.
After a calm start the woods close in, a little at a time, until nobody can stand in the clearing. Stay out of the trees too long and they take you.
Fewer than four of you? Bots fill the empty spots, unless you turn them off. The last archer standing takes the round. Everyone scores a point for every hit, from the grass or the trees. First to three rounds wins the match.
How to play Arrowdy
CONTROLS
Phone: left thumb to move. Right thumb on the aim stick: drag to aim, hold to charge, let go to shoot. DASH to dash.
Desktop: WASD or the arrows to move, the mouse to aim, hold the button to charge and let go to shoot, Space to dash.
TV: the phone is your controller. The left stick moves; the right stick aims, charges and shoots. DASH dashes.
ONE ARROW EACH
Shoot it, then pick one up. Walk over any arrow on the ground to carry it: yours or anybody's. You can only carry one.
CHARGE
The longer you hold, the further the arrow flies. Everyone can see your charge ring filling at your feet.
OUT
One hit and you are out, to the trees. From there you have a slow bow that refills by itself. Hit someone still in the clearing and you take their place.
THE WOODS
After a calm start they close in. A body left in the trees too long is out.
WINNING
The last archer standing wins the round; the last ones hit together share it. Everyone gets a point for every hit. First to three rounds wins the match; a tie on rounds goes to the most points.
