A paint-the-paper party game for up to 8 players online, or 16 on a TV with phones as the controllers.
Everyone runs around one big sheet of art paper with a brush in their colour. Off your colour, your brush leaves a wet line. Run back into your colour and the loop closes: everything inside it becomes yours, even paper somebody else had painted.
While your line is wet, it is open to anyone. Walk over somebody's wet line and it splatters: they reel for a moment and lose the loop they were drawing. A close never cuts anybody, so a line inside your new paper can still be closed by its painter.
Big loops win big, and leave you open for longer. The leader runs a little slower while their line is wet, so nobody stays on top for free.
Rounds last 45 seconds and the most paper at the clock takes the round. First to three rounds wins the match.
Fewer than four of you? Bots fill the empty spots, unless you turn them off.
How to play Inkline
CONTROLS
Phone: put your thumb down anywhere and steer. Running is painting.
Desktop: WASD or the arrows to run.
TV: the phone is your controller, with the same stick.
PAINT
Off your colour, your brush leaves a wet line behind you.
CLOSE THE LOOP
Run back into your colour, or cross your own line into a new loop: everything the line and your colour enclose becomes yours, other painters' paper included.
CUT
Walk over somebody's wet line to cut it. It splatters, its painter reels for a moment, and the loop it was drawing is lost. A close never cuts: a wet line inside new paper stays, and its painter can still close it.
A FRESH START
Lost nearly all your colour? A fresh patch appears where you stand.
THE LEADER
Whoever holds the most paper runs a little slower while their line is wet.
THE CLOCK
Each round lasts 45 seconds. The most paper at 0:00 takes the round. Tied at the top, nobody scores it.
WINNING
First to three rounds wins the match.
