HexGL Arena is a neon anti-gravity racing game you play right in your browser, descended from HexGL, the classic WebGL racer by Thibaut Despoulain. Strap into a hover ship, hit the throttle, and chase the fastest lap on a glowing circuit generated fresh for every room. This is multiplayer time attack: share your room link and friends drop onto the exact same track, live, as color-tinted rival ships. No collisions to hide behind, no rubber banding. Just you, a boost meter, and a lap timer that does not forgive. Live standings track every pilot in the room, a room record crowns the current king of the circuit, and a global leaderboard ranks the fastest laps ever set. Works on desktop and touch screens, loads in seconds, nothing to install. Enter your callsign, wait for the countdown, and go.
How to play HexGL Arena
Goal: set the fastest single lap. The race never ends, so keep lapping and keep shaving time.
Controls (desktop):
- Steer: Left / Right arrows or A / D
- Throttle: Up or W. Reverse: Down or S
- Boost: hold Spacebar
Controls (touch): your ship auto-accelerates. Steer with the on-screen left and right pads and tap BOOST for the speed surge.
How it works:
- Every room generates its own looping neon circuit from the room code, so all racers in a room run the identical track. Fair fight, no excuses.
- A lap only counts if you pass all 6 checkpoint zones in order. Corner cutting gets you nothing.
- Boost multiplies your top speed by about 1.6x. The meter drains while held and refills when released, so spend it on straights and save some for the exit of a long corner.
- Stay on the glowing track. Running wide drags your speed down hard.
- Live standings rank everyone in the room by best lap. Beat the room record and your name goes up as the holder.
- Your best lap is submitted to the global leaderboard, where a faster time means a higher rank.
Share the room link to summon rivals. The countdown hits GO and the rest is throttle control.
